Defective after 18 months
Bought this to replace another downdraft from a competitor that failed after 12 years. Had to expand the hole in the counter a tiny bit but at the begining, we felt like it was worth it. It was rising 14" above the cooktop, which was much better than the model it replaced. It was relatively quiet when not at the highest speed. However, after 18 months, it stopped working. We had to call in a technician at our expense (no extended warranty). We learned that the motor and the control board blew up. For 18 months of use, this is clearly unacceptable. The repair cost is the same as purchasing a new unit. We're debating taking the newer model, but with the experience we had, we're not sure we will.
